Course Description

The HealthyLifetime® Independent Living Coach Training Program (HLTP) prepares students to become independent living coaches utilizing the HealthyLifetime® evidence-based approach. 

This version of the course is designed to provide the content of the HLTP to experienced coaches for professional development.  It is not expected or required to complete the course.  It is anticipated that much of the course content will be a review, and coaches may skip those areas. Within the course, coaches have the opportunity to learn more about our client assessment, coach evaluation tools, and coaching strategies.  

Course Objectives for Independent Living Coaches

1.  Understand the HealthyLifetime coaching model and strategies.

2.  Understand the ten Independent Living Risk Assessment factors.

3.  Analyze client talk for change talk and sustain talk, insight and pattern recognition, self-efficacy and personal agency, resilience, and building toward sustainability.

4.  Apply the five main HealthyLifetime coaching strategies in coaching practice.

5.  Evaluate coach talk for motivational interviewing, guiding to insight, goal-setting, eliciting narrative, cognitive restructuring, and encouraging resiliency and sustainability. 

6.  Consistently demonstrate a coaching competency level of >=7 in the composite scores for MICA and AHCCA.
